Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi announced that an Arab country would deliver President Trump’s negotiation letter to Tehran. Araghchi expressed a defiant response to Trump’s threatening attitude towards Iran, stating, “I will not negotiate with you. Whatever you do.”
Tehran made a statement regarding the letter mentioned by US President Donald Trump.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that President Donald Trump’s letter would be delivered to Tehran by an Arab country.
Speaking at an event in the capital Tehran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani evaluated Trump’s pressure policies towards Iran.
Rouhani remarked, “We did not say we would not talk or negotiate. But will Trump dictate to us what to do, implement sanctions, and then say ‘Come on, let’s negotiate,’ is that so?” expressing his reaction.
The Iranian President added, “If you truly want to negotiate, why do not you behave honestly and block people’s access to bread and water? They do not want to negotiate with us, instead they want us to submit. But we will never bow down. I will not negotiate with you. Whatever you do.”
Rouhani emphasized the need for Iran to engage with the world and underlined that his country’s aim was not war or hostility, stating, “If negotiations are conducted with honor, mutual respect, and interests as the basis, we will sit and talk. But the language of threat and bullying is never acceptable for us.”
TRUMP’S LETTER
In an interview with Fox Business Network last week, Trump revealed that he had sent a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, expressing his preference for reaching an agreement on the nuclear program with Iran. Trump said, “I wrote them a letter saying, ‘I hope you will negotiate because if we have to go in militarily, this will be a terrible thing.'” Trump used the following words: “But the time is coming now. Somehow something will happen. If Iran does not negotiate, it will be very bad for them. The other alternative is that we have to do something because you cannot allow them to have nuclear weapons. There are other options available.”
After Trump’s remarks, Iran stated in a subsequent announcement that the letter had not reached them.
