The President of TESK, Bendevi Palandöken, demanded the enactment of a retail law to prevent unfair competition. Once again, Turkey’s Confederation of Craftsmen and Tradesmen President Bendevi Palandöken made a call for a retail law. Palandöken stated, “It is necessary to address the shortcomings in the retail law. There must be a regulation to intervene against unfair competition. Only through this way can inflation decrease.” The TESK President said that combating inflation is impossible without addressing the unfair competition in the market. Palandöken expressed, “Everyone has complaints. But the most important factor in solving the problem is to establish rules. Otherwise, it is not possible to control prices by inspecting 3-5 businesses in place or by giving the impression that prices are increased by them before the deficiencies in the current law are addressed.” Despite all the calls, Palandöken also criticized the lack of discussion on the law, saying, “While this retail law should be considered as a crucial tool in the fight against inflation, it seems to be pushed to the back of the agenda. The problem of craftsmen is the lack of regulations. Otherwise, there would be no problem in selling products manufactured with their own skills or handmade products with competition.”
