Countdown in US Elections: “Trump Demonizes Immigrants”

2 Mins Read

Former US President Donald Trump, as the countdown continues in the election race, claimed during a rally that they live in a country “occupied” by “criminal foreign armies.” Trump misled his supporters, delivering his most divisive speech to date.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, painted a picture of a country “occupied” by “criminal foreign armies” like a apocalypse in a campaign speech on Friday as the November US elections approach. As the White House race enters its final stretch, the former president addressed his predominantly white working class supporters by demonizing immigrants.

MOST DIVISIVE SPEECH

Exaggerating local tensions and misleading his listeners on immigration statistics, Trump delivered his most divisive speech to date. Devoting almost his entire 80-minute speech to the topic of immigration, the former president said, “America is known worldwide as ‘Occupied America.’ They call it ‘occupied’. We are being occupied by a criminal force.” Trump, coming on stage with posters of foreign criminals, added, “But I pledge to everyone in Colorado and all across our nation, that November 5, 2024 will be Independence Day in America.”

ALLEGATION OF IMMIGRANT INVASION While the US government has long struggled to manage the southern border with Mexico, Trump has exacerbated concerns by claiming that an “invasion” has been launched by immigrants who he said would rape and kill Americans. As part of a mass deportation move called the “Aurora Operation,” he promised to combat immigrant gangs by using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which allows the government to round up and deport foreigners. Violent crime rates have decreased under President Joe Biden’s administration, despite Trump’s claims of increased violence during his tenure.
