The automobile and light commercial vehicle market shrank by 11.6% in September. A total of 85,540 vehicles were sold in September. The automotive market in Turkey, comprising of cars and light commercial vehicles, decreased by 1.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 847,692 units in the period from January to September. According to the data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) for January-September 2024, car sales increased by 0.9% to 673,073 units, while the light commercial vehicle market decreased by 8.4% to 174,619 units during the same period last year. In September, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market contracted by 11.6%, with car sales decreasing by 14.61% but light commercial vehicle sales increasing by 1.6%. The number of cars and light commercial vehicles sold in September dropped by 11.6% compared to the same period last year, totaling 85,540 units. Car sales in September this year decreased by 14.61% to 67,434 compared to the same month last year, while light commercial vehicle sales increased by 1.6% to 18,106. The automotive market saw a 33.4% increase in September sales compared to the average sales over the past 10 years.
