Consumer warning regarding loyalty points

November 1, 20241 Mins Read

Accumulated and unused points on credit and loyalty cards will be deleted by the end of the year. Consumer associations are cautioning consumers to use their points before December 31st. The Consumer Union Federation’s President Mehmet Bülent Deniz reminded consumers to use the accumulated points and cash on loyalty cards as the end of the year approaches. It was also noted that accumulated points on credit cards should be spent. Consumer associations have criticized the practice of deleting accumulated and unused points at the end of the year, stating that it pressures and treats consumers unfairly. Deniz emphasized that these points are the rightful earnings of consumers. Ibrahim Güllü, Vice President of the Consumer Confederation (TÜKONFED), also expressed that the reset action is unethical and should be seen as taking away earned rights from the consumer’s perspective, as it is indeed a earned right.
