A report has been received that a ship collided with an oil tanker off the northeast coast of England and sank, while a fire broke out on the tanker. It was announced that 32 injured people were taken ashore.
The UK coastguard received a report of a collision between a tanker and a cargo ship.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency announced that a ship had sunk off the northeast coast of England. The statement mentioned that “Rescue boats from Skegness, Bridlington, Maplethorpe, and Cleethorpes, an HM Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, nearby ships with firefighting capabilities, as well as a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Humberside have been called to the scene. The incident is still ongoing.” The alarm for the incident was raised at 09:48 in the morning. BBC reported that the oil tanker involved in the collision caught fire.
The UK’s national rescue service announced that they received reports of several people abandoning the ships. The British media reported that 32 injured individuals were taken ashore.
The Coastguard stated that they are evaluating the pollution response that may be needed following the collision.
