In the South American country of Peru, there was a clash between drivers blocking the road to protest the government’s security policy and the police. Gathered in front of the Republic Congress in Lima, the capital of Peru, the drivers closed the main road to protest President Dina Boluarte’s government security policies. Security forces used tear gas and high-pressure water to disperse the demonstrators from the Congress. According to local reports, many people were injured in the incidents and some activists were also arrested. Drivers affiliated with a union, protesting the increasing theft, robbery, and violence in the country, claimed that the government was not providing adequate security. Drivers in various parts of Peru who have been victims of robbery and violence have long been calling on the government for action. In a statement, the unions announced that they would organize even more intense protests if security measures were not implemented. Prime Minister Gustavo Adriancen stated that the drivers blocking the road were being directed by criminal organizations and that chaos would not be allowed to prevail.
