1 Mins Read

The number of deaths in the cholera outbreak in Sudan has increased to 672, according to the Sudanese Ministry of Health. The total number of cholera cases in the country has reached 23,736. The ministry reported that the death toll in the cholera outbreak has reached 672. They also noted a slowdown in the increase of cholera cases, while an increase in dengue fever cases has been observed. The number of dengue fever cases in the country has risen to 2,075, with five people losing their lives due to the virus. Heavy rains and floods in Sudan since June have contributed to the spread of cholera. Sudanese officials declared cholera as an epidemic on August 12. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported on October 1 that 3.4 million Sudanese children are at risk of epidemic diseases. The United Nations Children’s Fund announced on October 5 that they have sent 1.4 million doses of cholera vaccine to Sudan. The ongoing war in Sudan has further complicated life as the health system is not working effectively, leading to the spread of epidemic diseases.
