The procedure for applying for child benefit has become a topic of interest for citizens who have children as of 2025. Following the declaration of the year 2025 as the “Year of the Family” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a one-time 5,000 TL child benefit for the first child born as of January 1, 2025, a monthly 1500 TL benefit for the second child, and a monthly support payment of 5,000 TL for the third child and beyond will be implemented. Families who wish to benefit from the child benefit have started to seek answers to questions such as “How to apply for child benefit? How to receive the 5,000 TL child benefit?” So, how can one apply for the 5,000 TL child benefit and what are the conditions? Minister Göktaş made a statement regarding the child benefit applications implemented as a result of the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Family” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Reminding that the regulation including child benefits to be given to families starting from the first child passed in the Grand National Assembly on March 27, Göktaş stated, “Starting today, we will start receiving child benefit applications, which His Excellency the President announced as part of our Year of the Family promotional program, through the e-Government portal. Applications will initially be accepted via the e-Government portal, but citizens who cannot apply via e-Government can receive support for the application from our Provincial Directorates of Family and Social Services.” Applications have begun to be accepted via e-Government as of April 8, 2025. Information about child benefit applications and current support amounts as of 2025 are as follows: For the first child: A one-time payment of 5,000 TL will be made. For the second child: A monthly payment of 1,500 TL will be made for 60 months (5 years). For the third child and subsequent children: A monthly payment of 5,000 TL will be made for 60 months. Emphasizing that child benefits will be provided without any specific criteria, Göktaş stated, “Our families who have children as of January 1, 2025, will benefit from these benefits. Accordingly, our one-time 5,000 TL child benefit for the first child born as of January 1, 2025, our monthly 1,500 TL benefit for the second child, and our monthly support of 5,000 TL for the third child and beyond will be deposited into the accounts of our mothers. These supports will continue until our children reach the age of 5.”
