In Düzce, plastic chairs brought in cheaply by a company caused a crowd.
A company in Düzce ran a campaign on plastic chairs with low prices. Long lines formed in front of the company selling a truckload of plastic chairs at well below market price and behind the truck where the chairs were. Those eager to buy the inexpensive chairs competed against each other, while those who managed to buy them filled their cars with plastic chairs. Long lines formed both in front of the store and behind the chairs. One citizen who successfully purchased chairs and filled his car remarked, “I bought them for my home because they are cheap. They come in handy.” The headman of Mergiç neighborhood, Hüseyin Akçay, stated, “Our neighborhood needed them. We bought as much as we needed because they are cheap. We have funerals, weddings. Let the residents of the neighborhood use them. Even a cup of tea costs 20 lira, while these chairs are being sold for 100 lira. May God bless everyone.”
