Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz stated during his speech at the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission that the 2025 budget prioritizes sustainable development and social welfare. Emphasizing that Turkey will evaluate the upcoming election-free period for long-term transformations, Yılmaz expressed their desire to see Turkey among high-income countries by overcoming the middle-income trap. Yılmaz mentioned following a three-stage strategy in the fight against inflation: transition, disinflation, and permanent price stability. He stated their goal for inflation to fall below 20% by the end of 2025. Yılmaz used the phrase “We aim for inflation below 20% by the end of next year.” Yılmaz provided information about the tax justice regulations implemented, highlighting the reduction of tax burden on low-income groups and the application of a 1% VAT rate on basic foods. Speaking about the Medium-Term Plan (MTP), Yılmaz stated that it will ensure stability in fundamental policies with a focus on growth, digitalization, and green transformation.
