While the national press claims that the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) may have carried out the attack, local police stated that armed individuals also kidnapped two polio workers in the Dera Ismail Khan region of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. ATTACKS IN PAKISTAN ARE INTENSIFYING NEAR THE AFGHAN BORDER Armed attacks in Pakistan are intensifying, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. Armed groups claiming to defend the rights of the Pashtun and Baloch ethnic groups carry out attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians in both provinces. Islamabad claims that the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) is based in Afghanistan and organizes attacks from there, while the Afghan government denies these allegations. In Baluchistan, BLA attacks are prominent. BLA desires the separation of Baluchistan province from Pakistan and for the Baloch people to govern this region.
