Biden Urges Western Countries to Continue Military Support for Ukraine

2 Mins Read

As the US presidential elections approach and Ukraine faces a harsh winter, President Joe Biden has called on Western countries to continue their support for Ukraine.

During his visit to Berlin to discuss various issues such as conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, President Joe Biden made statements to journalists before meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“Ukraine faces a tough winter, and we must maintain our determination,” Biden said. “I know the cost is high, but there is no doubt that this cost cannot be compared with the cost of living in a world where aggression reigns, where great powers attack small states, and where bullying thrives.”

INTENSE COMPETITION IN US ELECTIONS

Biden stated that he will discuss increasing military support for Ukraine with Scholz and also utilizing “frozen Russian assets” to support civilian energy infrastructure. They will also address conflicts in the Middle East.

With just two and a half weeks left until the US presidential elections, the competition will be between the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump, and the Democratic candidate, current Vice President Kamala Harris.

UKRAINE AND MIDDLE EAST ON THE AGENDA FOR LEADERS

It is expected that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron will have discussions with Biden and Scholz in the afternoon on how to end the war in Ukraine. The conflicts in the Middle East are also expected to be high on the agenda during the discussions among the leaders. The Biden administration believes that the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could pave the way for a ceasefire in Gaza.
