In the Brazilian city of Correia Pinto, 8-month-old Kiara Crislayne de Moura dos Santos, who moved in her coffin during the funeral, was urgently taken to the hospital. However, despite the interventions made, the baby could not be saved. According to a report in The Mirror, on October 19th, Kiara was taken to the Faustino Riscarolli Hospital, where doctors determined that she was not breathing and had no heartbeat, and her family was informed of her death. Just two hours after the news of her death, the funeral director took the baby’s body from the morgue and began the funeral preparations.
TIGHTLY HELD HER HAND
The funeral ceremony began at 7:00 in the evening. While receiving condolences, a participant noticed that Kiara was moving inside the coffin. The ceremony was stopped, and a relative who ran to her side saw that Kiara was tightly holding the hand extended to her. Health teams called to the scene determined that Kiara’s pulse was still beating, and the baby, 16 hours after being declared dead, was taken back to the hospital.
LOST HER LIFE
As the family was shaken by the pain of losing their child for the second time within 24 hours, father Cristiano Santos expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “We were already shattered. Then a little hope came, but then this happened.” The hospital apologized to the family, acknowledging that the baby was wrongly pronounced ‘dead.’ An investigation into the incident is expected to be completed within 30 days.
