The deadline for submitting income tax returns for those earning rental income ends today. It is crucial to pay attention to the limits of 33,000 liras for residential properties and 230,000 liras for commercial properties. Income tax payers are still in the process of submitting and paying their tax returns for the year 2024. Due to requests received during Ramadan Bayram, the deadline for tax return submission was extended from April 2nd to April 7th. Taxpayers who are taxed based on actual earnings from commercial, agricultural, or professional activities can electronically submit their annual income tax returns. WHO NEEDS TO SUBMIT TAX RETURNS? Property owners who earn at least 33,000 liras annually from residential properties or 230,000 liras from commercial properties will have to pay income tax. Those earning rental income below the exception amount do not need to submit tax returns. WHEN WILL TAX PAYMENTS BE DUE? Income tax accrued from annual income tax returns filed for the 2024 calendar year can be paid in two equal installments in April and July of 2025. The first installment, including the stamp duty tax, is due by April 7th, while the second installment can be paid by July 31st. PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT Failure to submit the tax return electronically within the legal deadline will result in a specific penalty for taxpayers. Additionally, failure to accrue the tax on time will incur an additional tax loss penalty and late payment interest.
