The incident caused fear and panic among the mosque congregation, especially children, when the Israeli army fired near the Cafer-i Tayyar Mosque in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip during an iftar meal with a Quadcopter type drone. A video circulating on social media showed the Israeli army firing near the Cafer-i Tayyar Mosque from a Quadcopter drone, preventing children who had come to the mosque for iftar from eating under heavy fire. The person who filmed the video stated that due to the firing from the Israeli army drone, the congregation and children were trapped inside the mosque after performing the evening prayer. The same person can be seen comforting a child leaning against the mosque wall in fear with food in hand and trying to seek refuge, while the drone continued to fire around the mosque. There were no casualties or injuries in the drone attack.
