NASA astronauts who were stranded in space for 9 months spoke for the first time after returning to Earth. They narrated how they spent their initial days back on Earth. The astronauts, who were stuck in space for 9 months, were highly discussed during the period they were stuck. Two astronauts mentioned that they were pleased with this attention. NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore shared their experiences upon returning to Earth. Butch Wilmore expressed, “We heard that our friends and family showed great care for us and were concerned about our health. I am very grateful, and I am amazed that we can be a positive element that brings people together.” Wilmore stressed that they focused on their mission in space, saying, “You don’t dwell on politics in space. You are entirely focused on your mission. I’m not as young as I used to be, but I did more weightlifting and exercised more on the Space Station than throughout my entire life because our professional team works for us to be even stronger. We try to minimize muscle and bone loss. So, if we go to other planets, the Moon, or other planets in the foreseeable future, we can adapt there as well.” Suni Williams, describing her first day on Earth after 9 months, said, “It was a great feeling to lie down in bed again after 9 months. I relaxed by lying down until the next day. I tried to adapt to gravity. After undergoing various tests, I returned home. It was very special for me to reunite with my dogs.” NASA astronauts went to space in June aboard Boeing’s Starliner capsule. However, due to technical issues with the Starliner, astronauts were not allowed to return in this capsule, and it came back empty. Two astronauts who went to space for a week returned to Earth after 9 months aboard the spacex capsule.
