Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached a consensus in the peace agreement text. Deniz Kilislioğlu from NTV discussed the upcoming process with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Mirzoyan stated that they are at an unprecedented point in history regarding peace with Azerbaijan.
Following the consensus in the peace agreement text between Armenia and Azerbaijan, approval is now awaited from the Parliaments for the agreement to take effect. The process is lengthy, with mutual demands still in place.
Deniz Kilislioğlu from NTV discussed the future process with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Mirzoyan stated, “We are at an unprecedented point. Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on a draft text for a peace agreement. We believe negotiations can begin regarding the location and timing of the agreement. It could be at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border or in another country accepted by Yerevan and Baku.” He said.
WILL THE ZANGEZUR CORRIDOR OPEN?
“First of all, we have no problem with any road being opened. One of the ones benefitting the most from these opened roads will be us. From the Azerbaijan perspective, we see a crossing of borders. It’s not possible for us to accept this.”
TURKEY-ARMENIA NORMALIZATION
“We have a very active dialogue on this issue. Discussions are being held between two ministers or two special envoys. Our approach is that if we can open the borders between Armenia and Turkey, it will have a very positive impact on our relations with Azerbaijan. Our stance and positions in the Middle East are very fitting in many respects. We have never been this close to each other before. We have never been this close to peace before.”
