Armenia to Send Humanitarian Aid to Syria via Turkey

1 Mins Read

Armenia will open the Margara border checkpoint for aid to Syria. The Margara gate was opened twice for humanitarian aid passage after the earthquakes on February 6.

Armenia announced that the Margara border checkpoint on the Turkey-Armenia border will be open from March 21 to 31 to send humanitarian aid to Syria.

As of March 1, the border duties on the Armenian side of the Alican-Margara Border Crossing between Turkey and Armenia had been transferred to Armenia.

The Armenian government approved the opening of the Margara border checkpoint for aid to Syria, with border duties fully taken over by the Armenian Border Guard Troops.

The decision was made with the aim of quickly delivering Armenian humanitarian aid to Syria.

After being closed following Armenia’s occupation of parts of Azerbaijan’s territory in 1993, the border crossing was opened for humanitarian aid passage only twice following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023.
