The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the fifth review of Ukraine’s 48-month loan program and approved the disbursement of $1.1 billion. According to the IMF statement, the Executive Board has completed the fifth review under the 4-year financing package for Ukraine. The completion of the fifth review is expected to allow for a payment of approximately $1.1 billion, bringing the total disbursements under the program to $8.7 billion. The statement highlighted that the 48-month financing package of $15.5 billion for Ukraine was approved on March 31, 2023, aiming to support economic recovery, improve governance, and strengthen institutions to promote Ukraine’s long-term growth. The statement also mentioned that the Ukrainian economy showed more resilience than expected in the first half of the year. However, the outlook for the remainder of the year and 2025 has worsened since the fourth review due to continued Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and uncertainties related to the war.
