A total of 11 regional products in Erzincan have applied for geographical indication registration.
For traditional flavors from Erzincan such as leaf kebab, tandir quesadilla, kasefe dessert, lule baklava, pan-roasted chickpeas, sakı apple, tandir bread, tandir flatbread, babukko meal, and kemaliye roast, applications for geographical indication registration were submitted to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. In an event organized by Erzincan Provincial Food Control Laboratory Directorate, the 11 products making the geographical indication certification application were introduced. Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydoğdu stated during the event that the inclusion of the region’s riches in the geographical indication inventory was of great importance.
Governor Aydoğdu mentioned that so far, 7 products have been successfully registered as trademarks, and with the addition of new products, this number will reach 18.
Aydoğdu emphasized, “With these efforts, we are preserving our values and confirming that they belong to Erzincan. These initiatives also contribute to the branding of our products.”
