As the days count down to the US presidential elections, it has been alleged that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump requested military aircraft and vehicles citing an “Iran threat.” According to a report by the Washington Post (WP), this allegation is based on correspondence between Trump’s campaign team and the US Secret Service, revealing Trump’s concerns that Iran may attempt to assassinate him. The report indicates that Trump’s campaign manager, Susie Wiles, requested military aircraft and vehicles for Trump’s campaign trips in emails sent to Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe. Trump’s team stated that they were informed by the government about a potential assassination threat from Iran, hence the request for these measures. Additionally, it was reported that additional flight restrictions were imposed in areas where Trump’s rallies were held, and special ballistic shields providing protection for Trump and his team were also requested. WP emphasized that in US history, no presidential candidate has used military aircraft during the campaign process. Former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt on July 13 during a rally in Pennsylvania, sustaining a minor injury to his ear. The individual who fired at Trump was reportedly killed at the scene.
