In Australia, the new “LP.8.1” variant of Covid-19 is spreading. This year, 45 thousand new Covid-19 cases have been recorded, with 260 people still under treatment. Reports indicate that the new “LP.8.1” variant of the Covid-19 virus is increasingly spreading in Australia. According to SBS News, the new “LP.8.1” variant of Covid-19, first detected in Australia in July 2024, is spreading rapidly. As a result, “LP.8.1” has become the third most dominant variant among Covid-19 cases in the country’s New South Wales (NSW) state. It was noted that symptoms of “LP.8.1” do not appear to be “more severe” compared to other circulating variants. The World Health Organization (WHO), in January, reported that it has placed the “LP.8.1” variant under surveillance due to its global spread. Approximately 45 thousand new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Australia this year, with around 260 individuals receiving hospital treatment for the virus.
