Butchers in Adana, selling boneless meat for 450 TL per kilogram, have reacted to kebab restaurants selling an average 150 grams of Adana kebab for 350-400 TL. In the kebab capital of Adana, a serving of 150 grams of Adana kebab is sold for 250-300 TL in the central Seyhan and Yüreğir districts, and for 300-400 TL in the Çukurova district.
The Adana Butchers Market traders stated that they sell boneless male lamb meat for 450 TL per kilogram, noting that the prices at kebab restaurants are expensive. Speaking on the matter, President of the Adana Butchers Chamber, Saruhan Yağmur, said, “At the Adana Butchers Market, the price per kilogram of boneless meat is 450 TL. Our butchers prepare and sell their meats in front of our customers. Inspections continue in Adana. Our customers can buy and consume their meats with peace of mind.”
Yağmur claimed that Adana kebab is sold at exorbitant prices, stating, “While 10 people can be fed with one kilogram of meat, when customers go to restaurants, they pay at least 350 TL for a portion of Adana kebab for one person. These exorbitant prices need to be controlled. The average prices are already clear. The cost of one portion of Adana kebab is 200 TL. These selling prices are not reasonable.”
