The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated, “As Turkey, we have become capable of producing our natural gas.” Minister Bayraktar visited Gaziantep to participate in a series of programs and meetings. Accompanied by his delegation, he visited the AK Party Gaziantep Provincial Presidency and made significant statements. “We work tirelessly day and night,” he said during the visit, discussing current developments in the energy sector. He highlighted the importance of Gaziantep as a city that contributes to Turkey’s economy, energy, culture, tourism, production, employment, and exportation aspects. “To establish Turkey’s independence in energy as part of the vision set forth by our President, we are making great efforts day and night,” he added.
Minister Bayraktar continued, “However, there are also challenging areas that come along with it. We are aware of the difficulties in our region. War has come too close to home. Israel continues its incomprehensible cruelty in Gaza. In such an environment, amidst different struggles happening around the world, we need to be even stronger and work even harder.”
– Turkey is a country rich in energy and minerals. Today, we are in a phase where everyone is investing in wind and solar energy. Apart from that, we are discussing a period where energy production is increasing in all fields. Turkey’s energy demand continues to rise.
– In 2002, our President said, ‘There will not just be natural gas in five cities. I will bring natural gas to all households in Turkey’s 81 provinces.’ Especially for the ladies, we must provide this fuel necessary for the comfortable, clean air that our cities should have. Natural gas is present in all 81 provinces in Turkey. We have natural gas in 760 settlements. 212 organized industrial zones are ready. We are now finding and producing natural gas ourselves instead of importing it.
– We have drilled in the Black Sea. We have conducted drilling in the Mediterranean. In a very short time in the Black Sea, by 2021, we have increased natural gas for 3 million household thanks to our President’s goal. We are now producing it ourselves. We have become capable of production in Gabar, where Turkey’s highest-quality oil is located in a very short time. We are currently producing 50 barrels a day, and this number is increasing every day, every month. As Turkey, we have become capable of producing our own natural gas.”
