Italian skier Matilde Lorenzi (19) passed away due to an accident during training.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation announced that 19-year-old Italian skier Matilde Lorenzi lost her life while training in Northern Italy.

The accident was reported to have occurred due to Lorenzi losing control after splitting from her ski team. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a condolence message, “The news of the early and tragic death of promising 19-year-old Italian skier Private Matilde Lorenzi due to a very serious fall during training truly saddened me. My heart goes out to her family, colleagues, and all the Ordu Sports Center.”
