In Spain, over 80,000 long-distance and city bus drivers who have demanded early retirement and have not received a positive response in negotiations so far have gone on a general strike. According to information from the Confederation of Bus Transport in Spain (Confebus), over 80,000 bus drivers across the country have participated in the strike. Due to the strike, buses have been operating between 20% and 50% depending on the region, with significant transportation issues reported in major cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia. Confebus announced that if no agreement is reached, they have decided to strike on November 11, 28, 29, December 5, and 9, and may go on an indefinite strike starting from December 23. The demand for early retirement for drivers in Spain has been an ongoing issue since 2004. Drivers are requesting to lower the retirement age from 67 to 60. Initially, it was announced that truck drivers would also join the strike, affecting over 300,000 workers, but an agreement was later reached, and truck drivers were excluded from the strike.
