The hustle and bustle continues in the fish markets. While there is still an abundance of bluefish in the seas, this has negatively impacted the anchovy. Anchovy prices are on the rise. Here are the current fish prices…Fishermen have explained that anchovies are now being caught less compared to earlier times. They have expressed that anchovies should have shown themselves by this time of the year, but towards the end of October, they have not been able to find what they are looking for. The scarcity of anchovies has also affected the prices. Anchovies are being sold at 250-300 Turkish Lira per kilo at the market stalls. During this period, it was expected that the bluefish would decrease and anchovies would increase in number. Fishermen have mentioned that the bluefish has started to become abundant once again. Both the price and size of bluefish have brought smiles to faces. Approximately 1.5-kilogram bluefish is being sold for 100-150 Turkish Lira at the market. In September, bluefish weighing 500-750 grams were being sold for around 150 lira. Following bluefish, the most preferred fish are sea bass and bream… Their prices start at 400 lira and can go up to 1500 lira. The kilo price of horse mackerel starts at 150 lira.
