A law professor in Osmaniye, with the support of his family, started avocado production on 25 acres of land inherited from his father. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Topaloğlu quickly expanded the production area to 65 acres. The Topaloğlu family aims to further expand the production to 150 acres and establish a production facility.

Mustafa Topaloğlu, a commercial law professor at a private university in Istanbul, along with his wife and son, is growing avocados on the citrus orchard he inherited in his hometown Osmaniye. Despite living in Istanbul, Prof. Dr. Topaloğlu decided to utilize the 25 acres of citrus orchard in the village of Akçataş, Sumbas district in Osmaniye, left by his father.

With the support of his lawyer wife and doctor son working in a hospital, Topaloğlu planted avocado saplings in the land inherited from his father four years ago. Traveling to his hometown every weekend after university classes, Topaloğlu tended to the trees in the land and eventually started harvesting fruits.

Improving his skills in avocado cultivation every day and acquiring new lands to expand the production area to 65 acres, Topaloğlu also grows avocado seedlings in the 30-ton annual production land.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Topaloğlu expressed satisfaction in effectively utilizing the land left by his father. He mentioned that they started avocado cultivation upon the suggestion of his son, a doctor at a hospital in Kozan, Adana. Topaloğlu said they have been enjoying this business for 4 years.

Topaloğlu stated that they have expanded the production from 25 acres and turned it into an anonymous company. He further plans to increase the area to around 150 acres in the near future. Not only fruit production but also seedling production is carried out in their lands, with a capacity of 50,000 seedlings in their current facility. They aim to expand it to 100,000 seedlings next year.

Highlighting their 30-ton production this year, Topaloğlu mentioned his wife, a lawyer by profession, left her job to focus entirely on the business. They are also considering establishing a facility in Kadirli or Sumbas industrial zone to produce various industrial products aside from avocados.

Topaloğlu expressed his desire to export their products abroad, indicating ongoing efforts in this direction.
