The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Hamas Unit Commander Muhammed Abu Itiwi, who was involved in the Aqsa Storm Operation launched against Israel on October 7, was killed. It was alleged that Abu Itiwi had been an employee of UNRWA since July 2022. Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari, in a video message, claimed that the deceased Abu Itiwi had a direct role in the abduction and killing of Israeli civilians on October 7. Hagari also stated that they have evidence indicating that Abu Itiwi had been an employee of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) since July 2022. Additionally, Hagari mentioned that they have requested an urgent investigation from UN officials regarding the statement and the role of UNRWA employees on October 7.
