The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul completed the day by losing 2.32% and closing at 8,793.61 points. The BIST 100 index decreased by 208.73 points compared to the previous closing, with a total trading volume of 74.1 billion Turkish liras. The banking index lost 4.68%, while the holding index decreased by 2.92%. Among the sector indices, security investment trusts gained the most with 3.63%, while banking sector experienced the most significant loss. Global markets are showing a positive trend following the increased risk appetite after the macroeconomic data announced in the US and the interest rate cut decision of the European Central Bank (ECB). Analysts mentioned that domestic agenda for the week includes consumer confidence index, summary of the Turkish Republic Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee meeting, real sector confidence index, and capacity utilization rate. On the international front, the statements of ECB President Christine Lagarde, the Beige Book Report of the US Federal Reserve, durable goods orders in the US, consumer confidence index in the Euro Zone, and Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index to be announced in the US and Euro Zone are some of the data that will be closely monitored. From a technical perspective, they noted that 8,710 and 8,650 points are support levels, while 9,100 and 9,200 levels act as resistance for the BIST 100 index.
