In order to have a healthy body, you need to have a healthy and balanced diet. Your nutrition plan holds great importance for your overall health. Everything you consume can have various effects on your body. However, the consumption of some foods can negatively impact your health and increase the risk of diseases. The World Health Organization states that 5 billion people are at risk due to these foods. Therefore, in order to preserve your health and live healthily, you need to eliminate these foods from your life. Healthy eating is crucial for overall health and quality of life. Regular and balanced nutrition provides the nutrients your body needs. Vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants strengthen the immune system and protect against diseases.

Maintaining mental health, every food you consume is important for proper digestion. According to all experts, the key to a quality life is healthy eating. However, there are some foods that can be seriously risky for health. These foods are generally present on everyone’s tables and kitchens. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that approximately 5 billion people worldwide are at risk due to these foods. It is emphasized that these foods can lead to serious diseases such as heart problems, diabetes, and cancer. Here is the list of foods that harm body health. WHO declared that processed meats like sausages, bacon, ham, sucuk, and similar products can lead to cancer.

In a report published by the organization, it was noted that consuming 50 grams of processed meat per day increases the likelihood of developing colon cancer by 18%. WHO also mentioned that red meats have the “potential to cause cancer,” although the data on this topic is limited. Particularly, hydrogenated oils used in large businesses, where liquid oils are solidified by special methods, can harm the body. The dangers of industrial trans fats have been a hot topic in recent years, and the World Health Organization is working towards completely eliminating the use of industrial trans fats. WHO stated that approximately 5 billion people worldwide are left unprotected against harmful trans fats, leading to an increased risk of heart diseases and death.

WHO had called for the global elimination of industrially produced trans fats in 2018. It is now a well-known fact that margarine is the most harmful among all fats. Trans fats, potassium sorbate, soya oil, and food colorings used in the production of margarine make this product harmful. It is healthier to use natural vegetable oils as much as possible instead of margarine. Additionally, the prolonged use of frying oils in restaurants can make them more harmful. The healthiest way to fry is using a small amount of olive oil and quickly preparing the food without breading. Other types of frying can destroy the beneficial content of foods and even make them harmful.

White sugar, which is obtained from sugar beets and consists of fructose and glucose, contains no protein, fat, vitamins, or minerals. Most nutrition experts argue that refined white sugar is unnecessary for the body. High levels of white sugar unnecessarily strain the liver and increase the risk of many diseases. When you reduce white sugar, your body can healthily use the sugar from grains and legumes in balanced amounts.

Of artificial sweeteners, the substances that are thought to be most harmful and researched are acesulfame potassium, monosodium glutamate, sucralose, aspartame, and sodium benzoate. Instead of artificial sweeteners, natural sweeteners such as coconut sugar, maple syrup, and honey can be used; however, some experts also believe that excessive use of these can be harmful. The World Health Organization recommends not exceeding 25 grams of sugar per day for normal sugar.

Generally, the harmful substances added to packaged foods to extend their shelf life make these products unhealthy. For instance, monosodium glutamate found in chips can create a cigarette effect. Instead of ready-made chips, you can prepare your own natural chips from thinly sliced potatoes or lavash in the oven. The damage left by bouillon added to rice pilaf, soups, and many dishes cannot be underestimated. Bouillons contain a harmful substance called monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is referred to as China salt. This substance is deemed dangerous by experts and its harms can be incredible, leading to various diseases and destroying the body. Due to the chemicals contained in bouillon, the body goes through a mass reaction called “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome,” and when consumed regularly with meals, it can result in abnormal heart rhythms, breathing difficulties, brain fog, and even diseases like Alzheimer’s.
