Yandex is planning to invest 400 million dollars to localize its information technology products and expand its reach in Turkey. Alexander Popovskiy, the CEO of Yandex Search Turkey, who recently took on this task, shared the details of the planned investment.
Yandex aims to strengthen its position in the Turkish digital market and confirm itself as a long-term, reliable partner by continuously developing suitable local products and services.
Emphasizing Yandex’s commitment to establishing lasting business relationships in Turkey, Alexander Popovskiy highlighted a range of products specifically designed for Turkey that will soon be launched:
“Our goal is to provide value to Turkey as a whole and build upon the successes we have achieved here in previous years.”
Popovskiy underscored the company’s focus on developing hyper-local products that meet the specific needs of Turkish users, stating, “We are excited to announce the launch of an artificially intelligent search product designed specifically for Turkey, along with other fully localized services in the near future.”
Advantage in Competition and Economic Potential
Popovskiy pointed out that Yandex’s approach to competing with global players emphasizes local language, culture, and the needs of local users. “While many global companies adhere to a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, we say ‘go local.'”
He also expressed excitement about the progress Turkey has made in promoting more competition in the technology sector, despite its challenges.
“With one of the top 10 internet usage rates in the world, Turkey continues to grow and develop its economy. It provides an efficient ground for innovation, and we are eager to contribute to Turkey’s digital landscape.”
Popovskiy also highlighted the commitment of the Turkish government to encouraging healthy competition beneficial for technological markets, digital economies, businesses, and end-users who seek better and innovative products.
New Navigation Features and Business Support
Serving a total of six million users monthly in Turkey, Yandex provides services such as Search, Maps, and Navigation. Popovskiy announced plans to enhance the user experience in Turkey by adding new features to navigation services, including city-specific information.
He also emphasized Yandex’s role in supporting Turkish businesses: “We are pleased to see how our B2B solutions contribute to the growth of local businesses. This includes our well-known digital advertising products, as well as the recently launched Yandex Maps API service, serving over 300 Turkish businesses.”
Popovskiy also mentioned a new special program that offers free access to some of Yandex’s B2B services, which has been launched recently with the participation of more than 40 Turkish entrepreneurs.
Long-Term Commitment to Turkey
In order to leverage Turkey’s digital potential, Yandex plans to invest over 400 million dollars in developing information technology products in the country over the next three years, aiming to provide employment to hundreds of individuals in Turkey’s digital sector.

Alexander Popovskiy stands out as a business leader with extensive experience in the telecom and technology sectors.
As the CEO of Yandex Search Turkey, responsible for the growth of Yandex Search services in Turkey, Alexander Popovskiy previously held various high-level positions in two major telecom operators, MTS and Beeline, before joining Yandex.
At these operators, he contributed to major innovations such as the deployment of 3G and 4G mobile networks and the introduction of package tariffs and family plans to the market.
Alexander Popovskiy holds a degree in Systems Engineering from Vyatka State University, an MBA from the London Business School, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences.
