Indian aviation authorities have revealed that at least 10 bomb threats were made to airplanes via social media or email in the past 48 hours. Consequently, several airlines have had to make emergency landings or delay flights due to the bomb threats received in the last couple of days.

Since Monday, numerous international flights and domestic flights operated by low-cost carriers have been canceled due to bomb threats, leading to route diversions in some cases.
An announcement from Indian Airlines stated that at least 10 bomb threats were made to flights, highlighting a recent surge in such hoax threats.
Frequent Fake Threats
Following a bomb threat made on Monday, an Indian Airlines flight from Delhi to Chicago had to make an emergency landing in Canada. The Canadian police reported that all 211 passengers and crew on board were evacuated after the emergency landing. A subsequent statement confirmed that the passengers were safely transported to Chicago via aircraft belonging to the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Another incident occurred when a bomb threat was made to an Air India Express passenger aircraft, which prompted the Singapore Air Force to escort two passenger jets.
Singapore’s Defense Minister, Ng Eng Hen, disclosed on social media that the flight from Madurai to Singapore with the AXB684 flight number was subject to an email asserting the presence of a bomb onboard. The aircraft landed at Singapore Changi Airport under escort.
Similarly, an Indian Airlines passenger aircraft traveling from Mumbai to New York had to divert to Delhi following a bomb threat.
Lengthy Delays
Low-cost carrier IndiGo Airlines encountered prolonged delays on two flights scheduled from Mumbai to Oman and Saudi Arabia due to bomb threats.
Meanwhile, SpiceJet Airlines revealed that a bomb threat was made to a flight destined for Mumbai from Darbhanga, emphasizing that the aircraft landed safely at Mumbai Airport. The statement added that the flight resumed after security checks.
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) will convene today to address the unfolding situation.
