Taiwan alleges China used “record number of warplanes”

Taiwan’s administration stated that in the military exercise conducted by China yesterday, a “record level of 153 military aircraft” were used around Taiwan. These unannounced exercises pose a danger to the entire region, according to the statement.

Taiwan’s leader Lai Ching-te made a speech declaring that “Taiwan’s sovereignty belongs to the people of the island.”

Following Ching-te’s speech, China sent a warning to Taiwan and initiated a large-scale military exercise surrounding the island.

While China claimed the exercise was successfully completed, Taiwan also announced that China had used a record number of military aircraft.

153 WARPLANES USED

In the statement released today by Taiwan’s administration, it was stated that “China used a record level of 153 military aircraft in the war exercises around Taiwan, and these unannounced exercises pose a danger to the entire region.”

The statement also conveyed that China’s exercises not only affect Taiwan but also impact international maritime law, as well as air and sea security.

SENSITIVE LINE OF STRAIT CROSSED

According to the report released by Taiwan’s administration in the last 24 hours, 153 aircraft were detected around the island, along with 14 ships belonging to the Chinese navy and 12 “official” vessels from coast guard and other units.

The published map indicated that 28 of the aircraft crossed the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait.
