Murat Tokgöz, the President of the Turkish Pensioners Association (TÜED) Mamak Branch, called for the continuation of the bonus given to pensioners last year in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Tokgöz emphasized that the 5,000 lira payment given to pensioners last year during the 100th anniversary of the Republic played a significant role in meeting the needs of many retirees. He stated, “Thanks to the 5,000 lira payment made last year during the Republic Day, many retirees entered winter with an additional amount of money in hand.” Tokgöz requested that the bonus given to pensioners in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic be named ‘Republic Day Bonus’ and be given annually in the amount of one month’s salary. He believes that this practice will greatly satisfy millions of pensioners and contribute to a more joyous celebration of Republic Day for them.
