The National Security Council (NSC) at the White House has stated that Israel’s bombing of tents belonging to displaced Palestinians in the courtyard of a hospital in Gaza last night is “extremely disturbing.” In a written response to a question about the attack, an NSC official included, “The images and videos of displaced civilians being burned alive after the Israeli airstrike are extremely disturbing. We have clearly conveyed our concerns to the Israeli government.” The statement emphasized that Israel has a responsibility to do more to prevent civilian casualties. The NSC statement continued to describe the attack on the tents by Israel, despite Hamas’ attempt to use civilians as shields, as “horrific.” The Israeli army carried out an attack on the tents where displaced civilians were staying on the premises of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians, including a child and a woman, and injuring 40 others.
