The government of Nicaragua announced that it has cut all diplomatic ties with Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The statement from the Nicaraguan government reported that after a unanimous decision by the National Assembly, all diplomatic relations with Israel were severed. The statement highlighted the suffering of the Palestinian people due to Israel’s attacks, stating that “Nicaragua will always stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and government who are facing destruction and barbarity. Nicaragua has made the decision to cut all diplomatic relations with the Israeli government in compliance with international law and treaties regulating inter-state civil relations.” The statement also condemned the ongoing genocide, occupation, and permanent aggression against the lives and dignity of the Palestinian people, expressing concern that these attacks are now extended to the Lebanese people. It also criticized Israel for threatening Syria, Yemen, and Iran, putting regional and global peace at risk. The Nicaraguan National Assembly also denounced Israel’s “genocide, persecution, and extreme hatred” policies towards Palestine. The Assembly called on President Daniel Ortega to cut ties with the Israeli government and labeled it as an “enemy of humanity.”
