Bendevi Palandöken, the President of the Confederation of Turkish Craftsmen and Tradesmen (TESK), expressed his opposition to the commission rates imposed by banks on transactions made with credit cards. Palandöken emphasized that the commission fees have reached up to 4%, stating that due to the high commission rates, craftsmen are losing money on the products they sell.
In his statement, Palandöken pointed out that the use of credit cards in transactions has significantly increased. He stated, “The card usage rate is around 85%. Cash almost leaves the hands of craftsmen before they can even touch it. However, the costs of credit cards are also very high.”
He urged banks to reduce the interest rates on credit cards, highlighting that the commissions charged by banks, combined with other fees, often lead craftsmen to operate at a loss. Palandöken emphasized the need for banks to lower interest rates to ensure both consumers and craftsmen benefit from credit card transactions.
