In Haiti, a town was raided by an armed gang. It was reported that at least 20 people were killed and 50 others were injured in the raid.
Located 71 kilometers from Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince, the town of Pont-Sondé in the Artibonite region was raided by an armed gang called Gran Grif.
During the raid, at least 20 people, including children, were killed, and 50 others were injured, leading the residents of the town to abandon their homes due to the attack.
The government described the armed gang raid as a “massacre,” with members of the Gran Grif gang being accused of attacking a police station near Port-Sondé in January 2023, resulting in the deaths of 6 police officers. The gang, reportedly consisting of 100 members, is also accused of causing the closure of a hospital serving 700,000 people.
