President Joe Biden of the United States and President Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine met at the White House.
Following President Biden’s announcement of approximately 8 billion dollars in military aid to support Ukraine in winning the war against Russia, the meeting took place in the White House between President Biden and President Zelensky.
Prior to the meeting, Biden expressed his pride in welcoming Zelensky back to the White House, stating, “For about three years, the United States has rallied the world to stand with the Ukrainian people defending their freedoms against Russian aggression, and providing the necessary support for Ukraine to emerge victorious has been a top priority of my administration.”
Biden mentioned that Ukraine had regained more than half of the territory Russia had captured since the beginning of the war but emphasized that there is still more work to be done. Therefore, he announced an increase in security assistance to Ukraine and a series of additional measures to help Ukraine win this war. He instructed the Department of Defense to allocate the remaining security assistance fund dedicated to Ukraine until the end of his term.
Biden also mentioned that he would convene a meeting of the leaders of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Germany next month to coordinate the efforts of over 50 countries supporting Ukraine in defending against Russian aggression. He stated, “These actions send a clear message: the United States will provide the support Ukraine needs to win this war.”
