The US military withdrew from three small military points located in the territories occupied by the PKK/YPG terrorist organization in northeastern Syria, relocating to other bases.
Yesterday, American troops vacated 3 small military points in the villages of Hadra and Fırat near the center of Haseke province and the Conoco and Omar gas fields in Deir ez-Zor province, moving back to main bases. The soldiers and equipment from Haseke were relocated to the base in the Rumeilan district of the same province, while those from Deir ez-Zor were moved to the base near the Conoco gas field.
US Media: 600 of 2,000 Soldiers are Being Withdrawn
The claim was initially made by The New York Times and attributed to senior American officials. According to reports, the United States has approximately 2,000 troops in Syria, and the Trump administration has decided to reduce this number to 1,400, indicating the beginning of the withdrawal of around 600 American soldiers from the region. It is also suggested that 3 out of the 8 American bases in northeastern Syria will be closed.
US Presence in Syria
In October 2019, with the start of Operation Peace Spring, the US began to withdraw from many bases in the operation area, focusing instead on the areas surrounding oil and gas fields. US forces are currently present in 21 bases and military points identified by AA in the provinces of Haseke, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor, as well as in the district of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in the Aleppo province. The areas of northeastern Syria where US forces are present are under the occupation of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.
