In the period of January-March, tomato exports worth 161,642,000 dollars were carried out from Turkey.

In 2024, Turkey exported tomatoes worth 426,760,000 dollars to 52 countries. According to the data from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations (GAİB), a revenue of 161,642,000 dollars was obtained from tomato exports to 42 countries during the January-March period this year. Leading the list of countries where Turkey sold the most tomatoes is Romania. Turkey achieved tomato exports worth 34,350,000 dollars to Romania in the first three months of this year. Following Romania were Russia with 27,502,000 dollars and Ukraine with 22,317,000 dollars.

INCREASE IN EXPORTS EXPECTED
Onur Girdap, the President of the Greenhouse Investors and Producers Association (SERA-BİR), emphasized the significance of the export figures in terms of contributing to the country’s economy in the first 3 months of the year. Girdap stated that they expect the export figures to reach a good level even in the first half of this year. “The first 3 months’ figures in tomato exports are crucial for both our producers, exporters, and the country’s economy in terms of contribution.

The climate conditions this year were harsher compared to 2024. This situation also affected our production. Although there was a slight decrease in our export figures compared to the previous year, I believe that we will overcome this gap very quickly in the upcoming period with a clear path ahead.

Data from the greenhouses indicate that our export figures will rise even further.”
