Taxpayers are under scrutiny in inflation accounting application. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that the purpose of these audits is not to collect taxes but to ensure the correct implementation of inflation correction. The increased base in inflation accounting has reached nearly 13.5 billion lira. The expected increase in base after audits will be around 67 billion lira. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance continues its audits to ensure the correct implementation of inflation accounting. Minister Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that the aim of these audits is to ensure the correct implementation of inflation correction, not to collect taxes. Şimşek stated, “With the success in the disinflation process, the need for such a correction will disappear.” THESE TAXPAYERS WILL ALSO BE REVIEWED The Tax Inspection Board continues its audit activities targeting taxpayers of various scales. Thus, the identified base difference has exceeded 80 billion lira. This amount is expected to increase further after new audits. Taxpayers who do not apply inflation accounting correctly and abuse it will also be subject to review.
