The automobile and light commercial vehicle market broke a record in March with 116,900 units sold. The share of electric and hybrid vehicles also hit a peak at 42 percent. Automobile and light commercial vehicle sales reached a new peak in March, up 6.4 percent from last year to 116,900 units. The share of electric and hybrid cars surpassed 42 percent, reaching a new high. According to data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ADMA), automobile sales in March increased by 5.5 percent to 91,828 units. The light commercial vehicle market also grew by 10.2 percent to 25,072. Despite low loan amounts and relatively high interest rates, increased demand and the introduction of new models played a role in the strong performance of sales in recent months.
Light vehicle sales experienced a 6.5 percent decrease in the first quarter, totaling 276,284 units. Nevertheless, light commercial vehicle sales achieved the second best performance in history after last year’s record. Pure electric and hybrid car sales in March saw a 123.3 percent increase from last year to 38,724 units, capturing a 42.2 percent share of the automobile market.
