2 Mins Read

According to the Interbank Card Center data, card transactions amounting to 28 billion TL were made on April 2. On Wednesday, April 2, between 00.00 and 17.00, the transaction amount was 28 billion TL, while on Wednesday, March 26, it was 28.9 billion, on March 19 it was 25.3 billion TL, on March 12 it was 24.5 billion TL, and on March 5 it was 27.3 billion TL. The figures indicate that more shopping than the average Wednesday of March was done. This increase is said to be potentially due to the holiday effect.

According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM) data, there were more transactions on April 2 compared to the last day of the holiday, April 1, while the transactions on the same date were above the average of March 3-22. According to the BKM data, the shopping amount on April 1, which was 14 billion TL, increased to 28 billion TL on April 2.

BANKS TO REPORT WITHIN 5 DAYS Approximately 55% of all nationwide card transactions go through BKM, while the transactions processed in the banks’ systems are shared with BKM by the respective banks within 5 days.

FULL DATA TO BE RELEASED ON APRIL 7 Therefore, the total data of card payment systems for April 2 can be reported earliest by April 7. The graphs released by BKM were prepared based on daily shopping transaction data that occurred only through BKM between 00.00 and 17.00. According to this data, on April 2, more transactions were made compared to April 1, the last day of the holiday, and they were also above the March 3-22 average in terms of amount.

POSSIBLE HOLIDAY EFFECT Changes in transaction volumes, the intense shopping situation before the holiday, the school break for this week, and the 9-day administrative holiday, coupled with weather conditions, can vary, and a more accurate picture will be possible with the accumulating data in the coming days. According to the shared data, the daily shopping transaction amount was 28 billion TL on April 2, while it was 14 billion TL on April 1. Comparing data from Wednesday to the previous Wednesday shows that on April 2 between 00.00 and 17.00, the transaction amount was 28 billion TL, while it was 28.9 billion TL on March 26, 25.3 billion TL on March 19, 24.5 billion TL on March 12, and 27.3 billion TL on March 5. Therefore, on April 2, Wednesday, except for the Wednesday before the holiday, a higher turnover was achieved compared to other Wednesdays in March.
