The Ministry of Trade announced that 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals and legal entities during inspections targeting price gouging during Ramadan.
According to the Ministry of Trade, inspections continue with sensitivity against practices that would disrupt the economic well-being of citizens before the Ramadan Holiday, affect the stable course of the domestic market, and adversely affect the supply and demand balance of consumers.
The statement noted that during the month of Ramadan, 46,474 companies were inspected through Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces, resulting in 9,525 companies and 46,507 products found non-compliant and subject to 134.6 million lira in administrative fines. The statement also included the following statements:
“Including the month of Ramadan, in March, 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals and legal entities, and in the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 27,321 individuals and legal entities received 655.2 million lira in administrative fines. Inspections carried out by Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces resulted in 134.6 million lira in fines in March, and a total of 296.4 million lira in administrative fines for the first 3 months of 2025.”
