Heavy fine of 200.9 million lira imposed on individuals inflating prices

During the Ramadan month, 200.9 million lira in administrative fines was imposed on 9,926 individuals identified as engaging in unfair and exorbitant price hikes.

The Ministry of Trade continues its inspections during the Ramadan period.

According to the Ministry’s announcement, a total of 200.9 million lira in administrative fines was imposed on 9,926 real and legal persons for unfair and exorbitant price increases following the inspections.

The statement included the following remarks:

“Throughout the Ramadan month, a total of 9,926 real and legal persons received administrative fines totaling 200.9 million TL in March, while in the first quarter of 2025 (January-March), a total of 27,321 real and legal persons were fined 655.2 million TL. Specifically before the holidays, during the Ramadan month, inspections were conducted by our Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces in March alone, where a total of 46,474 companies were inspected. As a result of non-compliance found in 9,525 companies and 46,507 products, a total of 134.6 million TL in administrative fines was imposed. In the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 25,783 real and legal persons received administrative fines totaling 296.4 million TL through inspections conducted by our Trade Provincial Directorates. In the first 3 months of 2025, our Trade Provincial Directorates inspected a total of 108,802 companies and 8,922,234 products.”
