Criticism of boycott calls from MÜSİAD

2 Mins Read

The Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) expressed their disappointment at the opposition’s boycott calls, stating that they aim to reverse the gains of the Turkish economy as representatives of the real sector. In a statement issued by MÜSİAD, it was noted that in recent years, the Turkish economy has gained significant momentum with its strong production capacity, export-oriented growth model, and innovative initiatives, and thanks to the determined efforts of domestic brands, it has shown resilience against global fluctuations. The statement highlighted that national brands have achieved a stronger position in the international arena, and the economy has demonstrated uninterrupted positive growth performance in the last 18 quarters. The statement further emphasized, “Especially considering the critical impact of domestic consumption on growth during periods of monetary tightening, boycott calls against our domestic brands aim to reverse the gains achieved by the Turkish economy in overcoming many challenging conditions, negatively affecting production and employment. In a period where our country’s technological, economic, and historical advantages are at the forefront, and there is a determined struggle to permanently reduce inflation, we, as representatives of the real sector, are disappointed to see such calls that will harm economic gains.” The statement from MÜSİAD underscored that boycott calls against companies that add value to the country, create employment, and promote domestic production are not in line with national interests. It was stated, “The business world should be kept out of political debates, and all stakeholders should act with common sense for the well-being of our country. Today is the time to increase our competitiveness in the global economy, promote domestic production, support sustainable growth and employment. We must stand by our domestic brands and continue to work together for the strengthening of the Turkish economy.”
