Usha Vance, the wife of the American Vice President James David Vance, along with a delegation, is set to visit Greenland. According to Vance’s office, during the visit, Usha Vance will participate in a national sled dog race.

A delegation from the United States, including National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, will visit Greenland, an autonomous territory under Danish control that President Donald Trump has expressed interest in including within the country’s territories.

Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President James David Vance, will lead the delegation, which also includes Mike Waltz and Chris Wright.

Expected to travel to Greenland with her delegation on Thursday, Vance will explore historic sites and gather information from officials about Greenland during the visit, which will conclude on Saturday.

According to a statement from Vance’s office, Usha Vance will participate in a national sled dog race during her visit. Waltz and Wright are expected to visit the US-owned Pituffik Space Base in Greenland and hold meetings with American officials.

RESPONSE FROM PRIME MINISTER

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Bourup Egede, in an interview with a newspaper, referred to the US delegation’s visit to the island as “highly aggressive” and expressed discontent with Waltz’s presence in the delegation.

Egede stated, “What is the National Security Adviser doing in Greenland? His sole aim is to show force upon us. Just his presence alone in Greenland will undoubtedly increase the pressure and the belief of Americans in Trump’s mission.”

TRUMP’S DESIRE TO ACQUIRE GREENLAND

Donald Trump expressed his desire to purchase Greenland, a region abundant in natural resources, during his presidential term in 2019 for the first time.

Since being re-elected as President, Trump has mentioned his intention to include Greenland within the US territories since January.

In a speech to the US Congress, Trump stated, “We need Greenland for national security. We will somehow make this happen.”

THE PAST AND PRESENT OF GREENLAND

Prime Minister Egede of Greenland responded to Trump’s remarks by stating that Greenland is not for sale and they deserve “respect.”

Greenland has been under the control of Denmark, located approximately 3,000 kilometers away, for about 300 years.

While Greenland has been an autonomous region since 1953, decisions regarding internal affairs are made independently, with Copenhagen taking charge of foreign and defense policies.
